Hooked on a Great Experience

“We’ve had the pleasure of knowing Captain Lance for years now. Always smiling and kind, he recently found out my nine year old son loved to fish, and immediately insisted we let him take us out to fish for striped bass. Of course we accepted the invitation!

In a slightly overcast Sunday morning at 6:30, we excitedly hopped aboard his boat and set out for what would undoubtably be a great day on the lake. Little did we know just how unforgettable it would prove to be!

We made a short trip from the launch enjoying the brisk morning air to “one of his honey holes” and Captain Lance immediately set about to getting lines in the water. I was personally very impressed with his boat which had top-of-the-line equipment from live well for bait to high-tech trolling motor to his amazing rods, holders, and other gear.

Not being one to sit idle, I asked to help, but we were his guests, and he would not have it. I appreciated our friend, and his on-going playful conversation with my chatty boy while he hustled around.

In no time at all, the first line was ready to drop in sporting the live bait he’d caught at 3 am that same morning. I settled in while our Captain prepared the next line. WITHIN 30 SECONDS, we heard the reel spin out and Captain Lance hollered “Fish On!” My son set the hook and shortly after reeled in the biggest fish he’d ever caught. I’m not sure who was smiling bigger: him or Captain Lance.

In under 2 hours and one steady downpour we barely got damp from thanks to his Bimini top, we had almost caught our daily limit! We had one more to go. When we heard the reel spin, my son (now a Pro from our Captain’s excellent teaching) went to work, but there was something different about this one. Captain noticed it too, and joined him, helping steady the rod now trying to pull my boy in the lake.

Cap looked at me, and with a smile and wink said it was a heavy fish. For the next several minutes, Luca reeled, then the line would run….a back-and-forth battle raging on with Captain’s kind instructions ensuring my boy landed the catch. Finally, a HUGE striper surfaced and ALL our eyes got big. My son lost his mind as Captain Lance brought it aboard in his net. Luca had caught a 36 INCH STRIPED BASS!!!!!! A legitimate Trophy Fish according to KY Fish and Wildlife! I’m not really sure who was happier, Luca or Captain Lance.

I could go on and on and on about how amazing that fish was, but I’d rather just tell you that he is the best guide on the lake. He is completely committed to you having an amazing experience when you charter with him.
